![]() | Recoil is the solo project of former Depeche Mode member Alan Wilder. Recoil stuff is much more "industrial" sounding (whatever that means) than Depeche Mode. The CD I have is just instrumentals. Since the Hydrology project, Alan has worked with guest vocalists on two albums: Bloodline and Unsound Methods. Since I basically gave up on "industrial" music a few years ago, I haven't really gotten into the latest Recoil stuff. I think, however, that Recoil provides an interesting alternative to die-hard DM fans. |

1 + 2 originally came out in 1986. Alan Wilder produced the first three songs and released this album in 1988. Each track on the album is lengthy. This stuff is certainly not pop music, and doesn't sound too much like Depeche Mode. 1 + 2 has a lot of samples from early Depeche Mode songs, but "1" and "2" themselves don't sound like DM. My favorite song is "Stone", a 14-minute track. It's really the only song that I listen to when I do crack this disc out.
